My Name is Br Francis Kariuki Matiru from the religious congregation of the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope (FMH) founded in Kenya. I was born in 1984, and raised in the central part of Kenya. I am the 7th born in a family of 8 siblings, with only one sister who is the last born. I finished my high school in the year 2002, and for four years I was engaged in photography and cosmetics business. I joined a diocesan seminary in the year 2006 but later in 2010 changed to a religious community. I graduated from the Apostles of Jesus Major Seminary in the year 2013 with a diploma in Philosophy and Religious studies, and also with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the Pontifical Urbaniana University of Rome. In August of 2014, I came to Notre Dame Seminary to pursue my theological studies (Master of Divinity Degree) under a scholarship given by the Seminary in association with archdiocese of New Orleans. This month (October 2017), I will begin my fourth and final year in theology, and I am looking forward to graduating in the month of May 2018. I am also looking forward to my final profession in the religious congregation of the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope and to my diaconate ordination this coming December of 2017. I am happy and so blessed to have spent my internship with the family of the City of St Jude Catholic Parish. A big Thank you to all of you, and May God continue blessing each one of you.
