“This, rather, is the fasting that I wish…share your bread with the hungry, sheltering the oppressed and the homeless; clothing the naked when you see them, and not turning your back on your own.” Isaiah 58:6-7
In a particular way during Lent, we are asked to devote ourselves to the spiritual and corporal works of mercy that “remind us that faith finds expression in concrete everyday actions meant to help our neighbors in body and spirit.”
Jesus so loved us that He gave his life for our eternal salvation. He continues to nourish our souls with the eternal Bread of Life. Likewise, it is our responsibility to give of ourselves to help our brothers and sisters who are still suffering from hunger throughout our world.
Our mission here at The City of St. Jude is to confront the poverty of our brothers and sisters, to touch it, to make it our own and to take practical steps to alleviate it.
For that we need your continuous help. Once again we are asking for your renewed support as the number of people that need our help continues to increase.
As we prepare for this season of Lent, please find it in your heart to continue helping us help others. Whatever you can afford will ensure that much needed help and care is given to those whom we have been called to serve.
We will remember you daily in our prayers, and we know that your generosity will bring a special blessing from the God who loves you. May God continue to bless you and your loved ones during this season of Lent.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Daniel Aloo Owuor, F.M.H.
