There’s a story about a man who dreamed he went to heaven where an angel began showing him around. They walked side-by-side into a large workroom filled with other angels. The first section, the angel told the man, was the “Receiving Section”, and it was terribly busy with many angels sorting out petitions from people all over the world. Moving a little further down, they reached the second section, which was the “Packaging and Delivery Section”. Again, it was very busy with angels processing and delivering graces and blessings to those who asked for them.
Finally, they reached the third section, which was a very small station. Unlike the others, this one only had one angel, and he was seated doing nothing. This was the “Acknowledgment Section,” the guide angel told the man with an embarrassed look. “After people receive the blessings they ask for, very few send back acknowledgements.”
“How does one acknowledge God’s blessings?” the man asked.
“Simple,” the angel answered. “Just say thank you Lord.”
This is what the Thanksgiving season is all about. Here at The City of St. Jude, one of the biggest things we are thankful for is the opportunity to be a blessing to someone else. Your support helps us help others…and for that we say “Thank You.”
As we do every year for Thanksgiving, we will be stuffing dozens of boxes of food to be personally delivered to needy families throughout our community. This is in addition to scores of people we serve daily. We are asking you to donate a little extra this month to help us provide a good Thanksgiving meal to many more families in need.
Thank you for your continued support and may God bless you many times over.
Yours in Christ,
Douglas Watson, Executive Director
